We would make you aware of the service opportunities available through the Standing Committees of the Palm Beach County Intergroup Association. Should you be interested in volunteering, please contact the Standing Committees at their email addresses below or contact the Intergroup Office: 561.655.5700.

The Website Committee updates, supports and maintains the Palm Beach County Intergroup website. It is responsible for adding such up-to-date documents as the monthly Today newsletter, the minutes of the Intergroup Business Meeting, and most critically, the AA meeting lists in our area. Website Address: http://aa-palmbeachcounty.org/ Contact us at: webmaster@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Birthday Club Committee sends special congratulations to those who have achieved a year or more of sobriety along with a Bill and Bob medallion. We also ensure that the recipients’ anniversaries are listed in the Today Publication. Contact us at: bdayclub@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Group Contact Committee visits groups that are either new or do not have an Intergroup Representative. Their purpose is to connect with someone in the group who is willing be that Group’s Contact so the group can stay up to date with Intergroup news. Contact us at: groupcontact@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Institutions Committee is responsible for carrying the A.A. message to persons unable to attend regular A.A. meetings. Currently meetings are held in correctional facilities, treatment centers, adolescent facilities, homeless shelters, detox facilities, mental health facilities, half-way houses and nursing homes. In total, over 400 meetings a month in over 40 facilities are conducted by the Institutions Committee. The requirement for joining the Institutions Committee is a minimum of six months of continuous sobriety. Volunteers are given a brief orientation and asked to speak with a current member of the committee at 2 meetings prior to accepting a commitment. The committee meets on the first Sunday of each month at the Triangle Club. Orientation for new members is at 4:30pm in the Serenity Room. The general meeting is held on the same day at 5:00pm in the big room of the Triangle Club. Contact us at: institutions@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The 12th Step Committee needs volunteers for traditional 12th Step work as well as volunteers to talk to an alcoholic in need of help on the phone. Contact us at: 12step@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Public Information Committee visits local governmental and civic organizations, health care providers, schools and libraries, legal and law enforcement agencies who deal with alcoholics in their respective fields in order to provide AA Conference Approved Literature and inform interested parties of what AA is and is not. Contact us at: publicinfo@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Bridging the Gap Committee provides temporary contact to alcoholics being released from treatment and correctional facilities by introducing them to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in their home communities. Volunteers meet the newcomers at meetings or bring the message into local recovery centers. Contact us at: bridgethegap@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Today Committee – The Today is the monthly newsletter of the Palm Beach County Intergroup Association. It is for all practical purposes, the voice of Intergroup and the groups we serve. The Today is to be informative, educational, and entertaining in carrying the message of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Today is responsible for informing all groups and members of GSO, Intergroup, and our associated groups’ announcements and activities. The Today also publishes the monthly financial reports for both Intergroup and the Institutions Committee. Additionally, The Today reprints with the permission of GSO, AAWS, and the Grapevine; Conference approved articles, The Steps, Traditions, Concepts, and submitted Grapevine letters that may be of interest and educational value to our groups and members. Because we are not a glum lot and absolutely insist on enjoying the life we have been given in recovery, The Today entertains our groups and members by listing individual group and Intergroup events. The Today also utilizes cartoons from the Grapevine, drawings, slogans, and graphics to promote the attitude consistent with our happy, joyous, and free lifestyle. The Today Committee Chair, also known as the editor of The Today, answers to the body of the Intergroup Association by presenting each issue to the Committee Chairs and Officers for review, comments, and direction to insure The Today does not become the voice of one, but remains the collective voice of all. Contact us at: today@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

The Phone Volunteer Committee maintains a rotating system for answering the phones after hours and on weekends. The time slots are filled by volunteers from our fellowship. It is suggested that volunteers have a minimum of one year of continuous sobriety. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact the Telephone Volunteer Committee at: phonevolunteer@aa-palmbeachcounty.org or call the Intergroup Office.

The Where & When Committee works with the Intergroup Office Manager and Website Committee to ensure that all updates to our meeting lists (“Where & When’s”) and website are accurate. Contact us at: whereandwhen@aa-palmbeachcounty.org

Serenity to accept the
things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the Wisdom to know the difference

I Am Responsible... When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.
